Don’t miss our amazing events this Christmas…

stjohns Christmas

There’s something for all the family, echoing the message of the angels to the shepherds that the message of Christmas brings “good news for all the people”.  All welcome – come as you are.

Saturday 16th December at 8.00 pm: Carols and Candles

A well-established favourite! In the midst of the hustle and bustle take time to experience the wonder of Christmas. Come and sing your favourite carols, step back 2000 years and meet the author of Christmas – born in a stable yet arriving to change the world for us all. Enjoy mulled wine, mince pies and either take the time to rest in the experience or chat with friends and neighbours.

Sunday 17th December at 11.00 am: Carol Service

A warm welcome awaits you as we experience the Christmas story told through readings and carols. Come and hear how important the Christmas message is for us today as we think about the birth of Jesus. Children and young people will have their own activities.

Wednesday 20th December: Carol Singing around the streets. Meet at St John’s at 6:30pm

Thursday 21st December at 7.30 pm: “Blue Christmas”

Christmas can be a difficult time for anyone who has suffered loss or hurt, such as a bereavement, job loss, poor health or relationship breakdown. Our Blue Christmas service helps us bring before God the pain and negative feelings we might have whilst others around us are celebrating. At the same time, we are comforted by the reminder that Jesus came to save the lost, the lonely and the hurting. ‘The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.’ (John 1:5)

Christmas Eve (Sunday 24th December) at 11.00am: Holy Communion

Christmas Eve (Sunday 24th December) at 3.30pm and 4.30 pm: Christingle and Crib Service

A fun, short service for families. Get your Christmas off to a cracking start by joining us for 45 minutes of carols and a walk-on nativity story where younger children are invited to join in if they come dressed as shepherds, angels or kings.  It ends with the traditional Christingle – a lighted candle in an orange, which children can take away. This year we’re offering two services due to popular demand!

Christmas Eve (Sunday 24th December) at 11.00 pm at St Michael’s Church, Lilleshall: Traditional ‘Midnight’ Holy Communion Service

Christmas Day (Monday 25th December) at 11.00am: Family Communion Service

New Years Eve (Sunday 31st December) at 11.00am: AWE (Alternative Worship Encounter) Morning Worship

All events are at St John’s Church on Saltwells Drive, Muxton, TF2 8RJ unless shown otherwise.
