At St John’s, the main missions we support are Tearfund, CMS (René and Marina) and CPAS as well as other missions, including some which are local. We are also a Fairtrade church.
Tearfund
Tearfund is a Christian international aid and development agency working globally to end poverty and injustice. They operate in more than fifty countries around the world. As well as being present in disaster situations Tearfund speak out on behalf of poor people by petitioning governments, campaigning for justice and raising the profile of key poverty issues.
When it comes to development, they work through local churches and church-based partner organisations. Churches bring knowledge about local and individual needs, they have continuous presence in a community, and they’re uniquely placed to help bring about the material, emotional and spiritual transformation that can free their communities from poverty.

CMS - Marina and René Pereira
CMS are a community of people in mission working in over 35 countries – a community that has heard God’s call to join in his loving outreach to the world and has rolled up its sleeves to serve others in mission. We support Marina and René Pereira who work in Argentina.
Their calling was to the young people of the Wichi and Toba tribes, to train leaders amongst them, to help teach them the Word of God and to inspire in them a confidence in the God who had been revealed wonderfully to their parents and grandparents through the last century.
René has dedicated himself to work with young indigenous people and Marina teaches at a mixed-race school.

CPAS
CPAS are committed to mission and equipping churches for their God-given task of evangelism. They believe the most strategic way for us to help churches become more mission-focused is by developing effective leadership. As a charity, they rely on the generous donations of churches and individuals, enabling the mission of local churches to share the good news of Jesus with more men, women and children.
CPAS produce resources and provide courses, events and advice for leaders withing the Church. They also run the Ventures and Falcon summer camps for children and young people.
